About the Recipe

Chips and pretzels and popcorn - OH MY. Combine these three treats with a drizzle of melted chocolate and you have the best tv show / movie watching companion.

Ingredients

1-1.5 oz popcorn

  • You can go above and beyond and make your own popcorn, but I took the easy way out and opened a bag of Smartfood popcorn instead

4 oz kettle cooked chips (I used plain but feel free to spice things up!)

4 oz pretzel sticks

  • These are superior to other shapes and forms of pretzels, I do not make the rules, I just abide by them.

8-10 oz chocolate chips

Optional: 4 oz peanut butter chips

Optional: Salt, but you might not need to add any

Instructions

Step 1

Lay out a long sheet of parchment paper on your countertop, about 2 feet should work. Lay your popcorn, chips, and pretzels evenly - this will allow your chocolate drizzle to better coat as much of the CHIPZELPOP as possible.

Step 2

In a microwave safe dish, heat your chocolate chips. I threw in Reese's peanut butter chips because I am obsessed, but you can use dark chocolate, white chocolate, or any other sweet that your heart desires. In 30 second increments, heat the chocolate and stir. It took me about 45-60 seconds to achieve a smooth and creamy mixture.

  • NOTE: White chocolate burns MUCH more quickly that dark, milk, or peanut butter chips. Check in 15 seconds intervals and mix well after each microwave heating to avoid burning the chocolate.

Step 3

You may need to wear oven mits for this step. Drizzle your chocolate mixture evenly over your chips, popcorn, and pretzels. Wait at least 20-30 minutes for the chocolate to completely set at room temperature or in the fridge for 10-15 minutes.

Step 4

Add to a large mixing bowl, gently toss, and add salt as needed. Share with your friends and family or keep the whole bowl for yourself! It's that addicting.
